Academy Art Students tour Midlands Universities Art shows

The ACE Academy Art students have been roving far and wide to discover the opportunities and possibilities available at local universities. Three recent trips to Nottingham, Wolverhampton and Loughborough Art & Design degree shows have wowed our students with their creativity, innovation and expertise.

Sixth form students of textiles, photography and fine art were overwhelmed by their visits. Lucy Owen, a fine art and textiles student, said “ The shows are really inspirational. They have a massive impact on what I think I can do in the classroom when I get back”.  Bethany Furber, a Year 9 student hoping to take art GCSE in September, was very impressed by Wolverhampton Universities show and the special textile activity laid on by staff there. “It was so great- I just loved everything! I wish we could do something like that every-day!”

Mrs Bullas, Head of Art at The ACE Academy, Tipton, said “The programme of visits is designed to support students in their current work, raise aspirations and engage with career opportunities. We are very lucky to have such excellent connections to these universities and their expert staff, who offer a wide range of expertise through their work with our students. When they return to the academy they are really fired up with new ideas.”
