Press Release 12th June 2014

23 June 2014

The ACE Academy has introduced Tchoukball and experienced massive success as a result. A national championship was entered by the academy and 14 boys, which involved a mixture of Year 11’s and Sixth Form students of limited experience, travelled to Bedford. These extremely athletic boys got progressively better as the tournament went on gaining knowledge and confidence throughout to improve their play and success as a result.  By the end of the day seven of the boys were selected for the England Development Squad!  Since then the boys have attended regular training sessions held at the academy and at England Tchoukball’s base in Bedford.

Due to the athleticism, attitude and positive approach of our students,  there is a very good chance that some if not all of our students will make the final selection process. This will be held on 14th September 2014 for the England Tchoukball team’s next fixture. The next fixture will take place at the World Youth Championships in Brazil May 2015.

Mr Brissett, Head of Boy’s Physical Education commented, “This is one of the proudest moments of my teaching career to date.  We have given the boys an opportunity to represent our Academy and now they are fully established in the England Squad the world is their oyster!  We couldn’t have wished for a better outcome.’
