In Year 9
Year 9, students will take part in a variety of activities to focus on developing their employability skills such as written communication, numeracy skills and team working. We run some optional trips to universities and other enrichment events. This is a great way for students to discover the benefits of going to University, the wide range of courses available and what life on a campus is like.
In Year 10
Year 10, you will start your preparation for work experience. Your parents will be invited to a work experience information evening. In June you will participate in a careers day working with local and national employers for the day. You will cover areas such as CVs, work experience, career role plays, and confidence workshops. All this will help you to prepare for your work experience. You will also have the opportunity to take part in various other activities such as university visits to see what life is like.
In Year 11
Year 11, all students will be interviewed by either the careers team or the visiting career advisor from connections to support and inform their decision- making regarding course choices post 16. To help with career information you can use the links provided on the website, information loaded onto Moodle, the careers library or get help from Mrs Stevens or Mrs O’Connor Located opposite ICT 1.
Year 11 are supported to make informed decisions about their post 16 options through career speaker sessions and internal and external taster days. We conduct visits to colleges, training providers and apprenticeship providers
All of year 11 also have the opportunity in November to complete a mock interview with local and national employers and also attend a one week work experience placement in December.
